Why Locals Love L'angolo der Grillo
Tucked away just steps from the iconic Fontana di Trevi, L'angolo der Grillo is a charming Roman restaurant that perfectly marries traditional flavors with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. This delightful eatery invites you to indulge in authentic Roman cuisine crafted with both passion and genuine care, making each visit feel like a warm embrace of Italy’s rich culinary heritage.
The menu offers a beautifully curated selection that highlights the best of Lazio’s flavors. Beginning with antipasti, the bruschetta arrives crisp and fragrant, topped with fresh, sun-kissed tomatoes and a drizzle of olive oil that awakens the palate. For primi, the pasta dishes shine—especially the carbonara and amatriciana—where perfectly al dente strands are enveloped in sauces boasting expertly balanced seasoning and rich, savory depth. Moving to insalata e contorni, each salad and side complements the mains with fresh, vibrant ingredients that bring balance and texture to the meal.
One standout offering is the Pinsa Romana, a traditional Roman flatbread that elevates pizza to an art form. Light, airy, and topped with high-quality ingredients, it delivers a delicate crunch with every bite, combining rustic charm and sophisticated flavors effortlessly. The attention to detail in ingredient selection and preparation truly stands out, making every dish a memorable experience.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere at L'angolo der Grillo is welcoming and unpretentious. Guests consistently praise the friendly, attentive staff who provide impeccable service without ever feeling intrusive. We were looking for a traditional restaurant that offered something different and we came to this place, we loved it, the service was excellent, the staff was super friendly and we liked the typical Roman food very much.

We’ve visited Rome many times, and every trip I make a point of stopping at L'Angolo der Grillo. The staff is genuinely warm and welcoming, the service consistently great, and the prices very reasonable. Best of all, the food is outstanding—full of flavor and, in my experience, even better than what many five-star spots around Rome offer. A quick word of caution: be sure not to confuse L'Angolo der Grillo with I'Sappori del Archetto. Some guests have mistakenly visited the latter and directed their disappointment toward L'Angolo der Grillo, which is a real shame given the clear difference in quality. We especially recommend the Cannelloni (the stuffed pasta tubes) and the Tagliatelle ai Funghi. Both dishes were among the most delicious I had during my stay in Rome, and I have an especially soft spot for the Cannelloni. Another standout feature of this restaurant is its substantial selection of vegetarian dishes. As a Muslim, it can be difficult to find places in Italy where you can eat comfortably due to the presence of non-halal meat or alcohol in sauces. L'Angolo der Grillo is one of the few Italian restaurants where you genuinely have options, which made the experience even more enjoyable. My recommendations to the owner: 1) Further develop your profile as an authentic Italian restaurant with an even stronger focus on vegetarian dishes. 2) If you ever feel ambitious, consider offering halal meat sourced from an Islamic butcher. This could open the door to a large new audience eager to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in a place that meets their dietary needs and won't be a restriction to already visiting customers. Muslims are willing to walk across Rome for the experience.

L’angolo der Grillo, near the Fontana di Trevi, was an absolute delight. The food was truly outstanding, full of authentic flavors and perfectly prepared. The service was warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. And despite being in such a prime location, the prices were excellent for the quality you get. A great spot to enjoy a delicious Roman meal without breaking the bank. Highly recommended!

Excellent pasta and pizza and affordable prices. We tried carbonara and amtriciana pasta and nothing were excellent, very well chosen condiments. The pizza also had high quality ingredients. The restaurant is very close to Fontana di Trevi.

I was so happy that I could eat really great food during my trip to Italy. It was a good restaurant near the Trevi Fountain and the service was excellent. It is one of the places I would like to visit again next time.

Authentic Italian dining at its best! We visited D’Angolo del Grillo for the second time, having first eaten here two years ago. We returned because the food was so delicious back then, and once again, it fully lived up to our memories. The dishes are truly authentic and full of rich Italian flavor. The restaurant also offers many vegetarian options, which we really appreciated. We especially recommend the Canneloni (the stuffed pasta tubes) and the Tagliatelle ai Funghi. Both were absolutely wonderful and tasted homemade, prepared with real passion. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. He took great care of us and even surprised us with a cheesecake dessert, which made the evening feel extra special. If you’re looking for genuine Italian food, a friendly atmosphere, and a meal you won’t forget, D’Angolo del Grillo is the place to go. Highly recommended!

100% Recommended! Nice food, place, location and amazing staff. We found this restaurant while walking around, looking for a place to have some dinner. From the moment we entered the staff made us feel welcomed. We enjoyed the place so much we came back for lunch two days after, and had a great time! Will definitely come back when we're back in Rome! And we’re also looking forward to going to their branch in Valencia :) We had Pizza (Quattro formaggi and Bufala), Pasta Croquettes, Carbonara, Panna cotta and Brownie with whipped cream (Cake of the day). And some Limoncello shots of course!

Update: Family members caught this restaurant on a Bad Night. Not particularly crowded but food wasn’t presented well, Tiramisu was not close to same picture I posted and missing ingredients. Everyone can have a bad night or two. But not everyone can have 5 stars. ……. I’ll still share this to family and friends traveling …. Possibly the most underrated place in the area. It’s not flashy. It’s just damn good food. The staff is very pleasant and willing to share their knowledge of what is fresh locally source, what pairs well with what, and if you don’t like the tiramisu, I’ll Venmo you a refund. Cozy, Historic vibe. The prices are phenomenal. I would have paid double my ticket in the USA. Wine, app, pasta and dessert (I was too chicken to eat every course) under €30,00 - A deal.
